IIT Bombay – Indian Institute of Technology
The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay, established in 1958, was the first to lay its foundation stone with UNESCO assistance. In 1961, the Parliament of India proclaimed it to be an ‘Institute of National Significance. The Institute has tended to score high in the engineering and management divisions over the years. With 15 hostels and excellent services for athletics and other leisure facilities, it is a fully residential institution.
Several advanced research and development ( R&D) facilities are also located on the campus, including advanced state-of-the-art labs furnished by industry. For all women students on the campus, IIT (Indian Institute of Technology) Bombay aims to create a healthy and comfortable atmosphere. In 2002, it set up a Gender Cell to encourage gender sensitivity and deter its campus gender bias, hostility, or sexual harassment.
More than 70 courses at UG, PG, and Ph.D. levels are offered by the Institute. These courses are predominantly taught in the areas of technology, engineering, astronomy, management, and architecture. It has also built a niche through continuing education and distance-learning programs through its creative short-term courses. All classes, with the exception of management programs, are administered by 16 IIT(Indian Institute of Technology) Bombay divisions.
On the other hand, management courses are provided by the on-campus school of the Institute-Shailesh J. Mehta School of Management (SJMSOM IIT Bombay). Additionally, there are 19 campus centers, including the Center for Distance Engineering Education Program, the National Aerospace Innovation and Research Center, the Tata Center for Technology and Design, the Center for Nanotechnology and Scientific Research, the Design and Engineering Center for Aerospace Systems, and several others.

Indian Institute of Technology Admission Process
To apply for admission to IIT Bombay, applicants can apply online via the college’s official application portal. However, applicants must also register for the related entrance test on the official website. BTech applicants must fill out the JEE Advanced application form via the official NTA website and MTech applicants are expected to register via the COAP official website.

Indian Institute of Technology Placements
From December 1 to 15, 2019, the first stage of placement at IIT Bombay was conducted. In the first step itself, the institute experienced an all-time high placement record. 265 companies (including PPOs) made a total of 1319 offers during this period, out of which 1172 offers were approved by the students. In the engineering and technology market, where two PSUs have visited the campus and made nine deals across all the private sector firms, the largest number of deals were made.
The college bagged 156 foreign offers from various countries, such as the USA, Japan, the UAE, Singapore, the Netherlands, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and South Korea, in terms of international placement. The figure is 75% higher than in the previous season. However, the overall number of businesses visiting the campus in the first process fell from 361 last year to 265 this year.
Last year, IIT Bombay introduced a Placement Common Aptitude Test (PCAT) to replace the individual recruiting tests administered by companies. The PCAT scores for the initial screening were followed by 50 organizations this year.

Indian Institute of Technology Scholarship
Scholarship 1
Merit-cum-Means scholarship: INR1000 / awarded every month to a limit of 25 percent of the accepted intake of undergraduate students with the value of free tuition fees every semester. For a Dual degree, it is valid only up to the 4th year. Academic merit, as well as the means to assess qualifications, will be taken into consideration for such scholarships.
