National Institute of Industrial Engineering or NITIE Mumbai, is a public/Government funded college and is considered as India’s exceptional college imparting Industrial Engineering and Management schooling to students. It offers a variety of postgraduate courses.
Established in 1963, the National Institute of Industrial Engineering is also known as NITIE.

National Institute of Industrial Engineering Admission :
National Institute of Industrial Engineering offers degree and certificate programmes to candidates at the PG level.
PGD in Industrial Safety & Environmental Management/Industrial Management
- Candidates must possess a full-time Engineering/Technology degree in any branch from a recognized university with 60% aggregate (relaxed by 5% for SC/ST/PwD candidates) and a valid CAT score.
PGD in Industrial Engineering/Project Management/Manufacturing Management
- A full-time Engineering/Technology degree in any branch from a recognized university with 60% aggregate (relaxed by 5% for SC/ST/PwD candidates) and a valid GATE score.
Admission for Fellowship program:
- Candidates must possess a Master’s degree in Engineering/ Technology, Economics, Management, Social Sciences, Commerce, Life sciences, and Pure Sciences with 60% aggregate (55% in case of SC/ST/PwD candidates) from a recognized university/ institution.
Admission for PGPEX – VLFM
- The candidate must have been an engineer with 5-12 years of experience in the field of manufacturing.
Application process :
Admission into various courses at NITIE can be done by filling up the application forms that are available online as well as offline mode. The college changes a minimal amount as the application fee.
Steps for Online application :
- Visit the official website and create a login ID by filling the mandatory information in the admission tab.
- Fill the application form with all the required educational and personal details and upload scanned copies of the required documents.
- This is followed by paying the application fee via debit card/credit card/net banking or any other payment methods available.
- This is followed by submitting the application form.
Steps for offline application :
- For applying offline, the candidate needs to visit the college Admission Counsellor to fill the form, submit original documents, and pay the fee.
National Institute of Industrial Engineering Placements :
National Institute of Industrial Engineering (NITIE), Mumbai has a well-focused and dedicated placement cell that aims at providing the best opportunities and practical exposure to the students. The various skill development rounds help the students to be prepared for any future challenge.
- The institute has witnessed a substantial growth as Highest Placement of 78 LPA in 2023.
- The average package has also gone up to Rs 28 LPA in 2023.
- However, the number of participating companies has dipped slightly from 125 to 121 companies.
- Also, the number of annual recruiters has gone down.
National Institute of Industrial Engineering Scholarships :
Given below are the categories in which the National Institute of Industrial Engineering offers scholarships. Scholarships are meant to encourage the performance of meritorious and needy students. Students can retrieve the scholarships during the time of admission.
Institute offers scholarships on different criteria given below:
- Tuition Fee waiver Scholarship (30%): Any student entering the postgraduate Programmes with a family income not more than Rs. 2.50 lakhs.
- Tuition Fee Waiver Scholarship (50%): All students entering the postgraduate Programmes with a family income not more than Rs. 1.00 lakh.
- Scholarship for GATE qualifiers
The qualifiers get monthly Teaching Assistantship (at present Rs.12400/- per month) and contingency expenditure as per rules. SC/ST candidates are granted Central Sector Scholarship as per the scheme of Government.
National Institute of Industrial Engineering Cut-off :
Candidates are given admissions to various UG & PG courses offered at the NITIE Mumbai on the basis of the cut-offs of the respective entrance tests or merit required for qualification.
Cut-offs are released professionally by the college authority category-wise.
The reservation criteria issued by the Government of India and the state are also kept in mind. Other factors include:
- The total number of applicants applying
- The total seats available
- The previous year’s cutoffs.
The candidates that meet the criteria are only preferred for admissions.
