Established in 1983, Kongu Engineering College or KEC is a private, autonomous institution. Accredited with Grade ‘A’ by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), the college offers more than 44 courses across 4 streams.

This Erode, Tamilnadu situated college offers three UG courses which include BE, BTech, and BSc as well as five PG courses including ME, MTech, MBA, and MSc and MCA.

Kongu Engineering College Admission :

Admission into the various UG, PG, Ph.D., MS, or Doctoral courses at GCT is purely based on the merit of the candidates in the respective entrance examinations or other equivalent exams. The application process is generally conducted in the online mode. Aspirants can directly visit the official website of the college or TNEA or TANCET for applying in the respective courses.

However, candidates appearing in GATE exams need not appear in the TANCET entrance exam to take admission in MTech programs.

Admission Highlights

• Admission into BE and BTech is based on the cutoff scores of the TNEA entrance test.
• Admission into ME, MTech, and MCA is based on GATE/ TANCET scores, followed by a Group Discussion and PI (GDPI). Shortlisted candidates are then called for counseling.
• Admission to MBA is based on a valid score in MAT
• The admission for PG programs is purely merit-based.

Candidates belonging to reserved categories enjoy a relaxation of 5%  in aggregate scores for the qualifying exams.

Candidates with a BCA/ BSc degree in IT/ Computer Science are qualified for direct admission into MCA 2nd year, through lateral entry.

Kongu Engineering College Placements :

Kongu Engineering College, Erode runs a focused and dedicated placement cell since 1998 that aims at providing the best opportunities and practical exposure to the students. The various skill development rounds help the students to be prepared for any future challenge.

The top course at KEC experiencing 100% placements constantly in the past two years is MCA. The institute also arranges internship programs for students in industries.

In 2019, the highest salary package offered went up to Rs 35-40 LPA, for BSc in Computer Systems and Design. In Mechanical engineering, the highest package offered was Rs 5 LPA.

Kongu Engineering College Cut-off 2020 :

Candidates are given admissions to various UG & PG courses offered at the Kongu Engineering College on the basis of the cut-offs of the respective entrance tests required for qualification.

Cut-offs are released professionally by the college authority category-wise.

The reservation criteria issued by the Government of India and the state are also kept in mind. Other factors include :

• The total number of applicants applying
• The total seats available
• The previous year’s TNEA or TANCET cutoffs.

The candidates that meet the criteria are only preferred for admissions.

Admissions are carried out on the basis of merit for most programs, except for courses, including colleges:

• BTech, and B.Arch, applicants are selected on the basis of the cut-offs of TNEA or JEE Main.
• For Arch, cut-off in NATA is also considered.
• For MTech, cut-off scores in the GATE entrance test is preferred.
