Uttranchal University, located in Dehradun, is a prestigious educational institution. Established in 2002, the university has four schools offering Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctoral degrees in several disciplines, including Arts, Science, Commerce, Computer Science, Law, Engineering, Management, and Education. The University offers a conducive learning environment with excellent infrastructure and state-of-the-art facilities. Students can access well-equipped libraries, modern laboratories, the internet, and other resources. The faculty is highly experienced and qualified to teach the various courses offered by the university. The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and the University Grants Commission (UGC) (AICTE) approve the university. It is also recognized by the Bar Council of India (BCI). Uttaranchal University has four campuses in Dehradun, Roorkee, Kashipur, and Srinagar. The university provides a range of facilities to its students and faculty, including spacious lecture theatres, modern laboratories, libraries, computer centers, and hostels.

Objectives  

To establish centers of excellence for high-quality knowledge, research, instruction, and training in the disciplines of science, engineering, professional education, law and legal studies, dentistry, medicine, paramedicine, physiotherapy, pharmacy, commerce, management, education, the humanities, and other related professional education as it currently stands and in any other way that may emerge in the future, including continuing education and distance learning.

Imparting information and training in various subjects at the undergraduate, graduate, and doctorate levels, helping to grow the state and the country as a whole as well as assisting Uttarakhand State inhabitants in finding employment in the area to help prevent migration.

Encourage professors to collaborate with the community and students in learning partnerships.

Facilities 

Uttaranchal University, Dehradun, offers its students, faculty, and staff a wide range of facilities. These include:

– Library: The university has separate libraries for different departments and faculties. The library also has a digital library and a reading room. 

The University has a massive volume of books, periodicals, and national and international journals. The library has over 60,000 books, CDs, and DVDs. 

 

– Hostels: The university provides separate accommodation to both boys and girls. The hostels are well-equipped with all the basic amenities like air-conditioned bedrooms, study rooms, standard rooms, sports grounds, canteen, and medical facilities.

 

– Sports: The university has sports facilities such as basketball, volleyball, table tennis, badminton, football, a gymnasium, cricket, and other indoor and outdoor games. 

The staff and students from the university’s constituent institutions have joined the Central Sports Committee as members. This committee’s goals are to coordinate intra-university sporting events, plan sporting events for the yearly “Uttaranchal Yuva Fest,” and make participation in extracurricular activities easier. Students enthusiastically take part in intra-collegiate, inter-collegiate, and inter-university athletic competitions. The pupils are encouraged to participate in district, state, national, and international sporting competitions.

 

– Cafeteria & Mess: A hygienic and well-maintained cafeteria and mess are available for the students.

 

– Medical Facilities: The university provides 24×7 medical facilities and has a dedicated Health Centre.

 

– Transportation: The university provides bus services for students and staff, connecting to different parts of the city. 

Awards 

Jagaran Excellence Award For Education 2022 

The Uttaranchal university received the Jagran excellence award in education for its innovative pedagogy, world-class facilities, research-oriented curriculum, and various platforms for holistic student development. It also provided 3600 million rupees for the overall development of the nation’s youth for the new Bharat. 

Life At Uttaranchal University 

University Cultural Society 

With the aid of the Central Cultural Committee, which manages the University Cultural Society’s activities, Uttaranchal University offers its students a platform to showcase their creative abilities in various activities. Faculty members and students from the committee’s component colleges participate. This committee’s goal is to annually host the intercollegiate festival Uttaranchal Yuva Fest, inviting students to participate and giving them a chance to share their talents on a shared stage. The Fest includes several activities that assist kids in developing their personalities by encouraging teamwork, leadership skills, endurance, and self-discipline.

Under the auspices of the Uttaranchal University Women Cell, Uttaranchal University will observe “Nari Shakti Samaan” in honor of International Women’s Day on March 8, 2022, with tremendous enthusiasm and intent and following the theme “Gender Equality now for a sustainable tomorrow.

Seminars 

Innovations in Microbial Technology for Sustainable Development 

The Department of Biotechnology at the School of Applied and Life Sciences (SALS) hosted a lecture on innovations in microbial technology for sustainable development on September 16, 2022. The ceremonial lighting of the lucky lamp was followed by Dr. Nishesh Sharma, the organizing secretary, who gave a speech and explained the seminar’s goal. In his keynote lecture, Prof. (Dr.) Ajay Singh, Dean of SALS at Uttaranchal University, emphasized the need to use cutting-edge methods in scientific research to solve issues with society, the environment, and human health. 

 Industrial Innovation with Human Values and Professional Ethics

The School of Applied & Life Sciences at Uttaranchal University hosted an “Industrial Innovation with Human Values and Professional Ethics” seminar on September 6, 2022. This Seminar was organized as a part of the orientation program.

At Uttaranchal University, a Division of Research and Innovation has been formed with the most modern facilities and ecosystem for study, knowledge generation, dissemination, and transdisciplinary inventions.

The university has identified key developing research topics in agriculture, biotechnology, security information and communication technology, environment and climate change, industry 4.0, sustainable energy and green buildings, public health, nanotechnology, and advanced materials. The research aims to address social issues consistent with the Sustainable Development Goals set out by the United Nations (SDGs).

Centre of Excellence for

Smart Devices and IoT Applications 

Data generated by networked devices and equipment is collected, analyzed, and used in the internet of things (IoT). The Internet, which was first developed to link people, is currently connecting stuff to people and continuously collecting, analyzing, and transferring data. In this sense, humans are evolving a sixth sense. Big data analytics, networks, storage, and sensors are all crucial components in adopting the IoT. 

The Internet of Things is only complete with intelligent devices, which include sensors, mighty computing power, and communication capabilities. Sensor data is electronically transformed into information (output) that ‘intelligent’ machinery or people may utilize to make choices. To understand how “things” function, the data must be assessed. The current development of big-data solutions allows for significantly more organized and unstructured data management. 

By democratizing invention, standardization, and prototype realization, the created CoE’s objective is to allow universities to act as innovation centers in the developing technology of the Internet of Things.
