SNAP- Symbiosis National Aptitude Test
For admission to management programs given by its associated colleges and several other private B-schools, Symbiosis International University (SIU) administers the Symbiosis National Aptitude Test (SNAP), a national-level MBA entrance exam. Every year in December and January, SNAP is held. It is slated for three separate times starting in 2020. Every year, more than 60,000 applicants show up for SNAP.
Compared to other well-known admission exams like the CAT or XAT, SNAP is simpler. It is a speed test to evaluate candidates’ ability to manage their time and make decisions. Since 2017, test centers have conducted SNAP in an online format. In India, the exam is administered at over 90 centers.
What is the SNAP structure?
The computer-based SNAP test has three portions. 2020 saw a reduction in the SNAP time limit from two hours to one hour and a decrease in the number of questions from 110 to 60. In 2022, the same framework and pattern will apply. The following table details the SNAP Exam Pattern in full:
SNAP Exam Pattern 2022
Sections | Number of questions | Marks |
General English: Reading Comprehension, Verbal Reasoning, Verbal Ability | 15 | 15 |
Quantitative, Data Interpretation & Data Sufficiency | 20 | 20 |
Analytical & Logical Reasoning | 25 | 25 |
Total | 60 | 60 |
As previously mentioned, Symbiosis National Aptitude Test (SNAP) contains nearly identical components to other MBA entrance exams, including the CAT, XAT, NMAT, etc. Exams like the NMAT and SNAP are somewhat comparable in terms of difficulty. The critical components of the SNAP exam format and marking scheme are listed below:
Each question in SNAP has four possible answers and is of the multiple-choice variety.
One mark is awarded for each correct response.
Each wrong response results in a 25% score deduction.
Sectional time restrictions are not present in SNAP.
In SNAP, there is no prefixed order for the sections. Therefore, the applicant can attempt the portions in any order and switch between them.
Syllabus for SNAP 2022
Despite the lack of a set syllabus for SNAP, we have noted a few topics based on how frequently they come up in the test. A summary of the SNAP syllabus for 2022 is provided below:
Typical English, The English portion of the Symbiosis National Aptitude Test (SNAP exam), primarily focuses on reading comprehension, verbal reasoning, and other aspects of vocal ability, as seen in the table above. In SNAP, there are typically two RC excerpts, which are followed by generally direct questions. These chapters are based on current affairs or problems in business. This section’s remaining subjects will test your command of both vocabulary and grammar.
Analytical & Logical Reasoning: In this section, you’ll answer inquiries that gauge your capacity for analysis and problem-solving. These queries are derived from themes in conventional deductive reasoning, such as syllogisms, analogies, coding-decoding, etc. Additionally, there are inquiries related to critical and visual thinking.
Quantitative Ability: This section includes questions based on fundamental mathematical ideas. Maths, algebra, geometry, data interpretation, and data sufficiency are among the most crucial topics.
When are SNAP surveys taken?
Every year, SNAP is administered in December or January. August marks the start of the exam registration period, which lasts through November. The candidates were given three chances to take the exam in 2022, with the highest results being considered for admission. You must submit the SNAP application form online in addition to applying to the MBA programs you want at the appropriate institutions. Additionally, you can select the test city and date of your choice from the options provided in the online form.
Typically, the SNAP results are released in January. Up to one month after they are announced, the results are accessible on the official website.
