B.M.S. College of Engineering (BMSCE) is named after its founder Late Sri. Bhusanayana Mukundadas Sreenivasaiah. Run by the B.M.S. Educational Trust, it was started in 1946 and got the tag of autonomous in the year 2008. It is a private engineering college, affiliated with Visvesvaraya Technological University and is partially funded by the Government of Karnataka. The college is located on Bull Temple Road, Basavanagudi, diagonally opposite to the famous Bull Temple.

BMS College of Engineering All India Rankings (AIR) :

BMS College of Engineering is accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with a CGPA of 3.83 on a scale of four which is the highest in the country. In the Times Engineering Institute 2019 Survey, it has been ranked number 8 among the top 140 engineering institutes in the country and number 1 among the top 50 institutes on placements.

Apart from this, BMSCE was ranked 69 by the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) engineering ranking in 2019 and 40 by Outlook India’s “India’s Top 150 Engineering Colleges in 2019“. It was ranked 24th among engineering colleges by India Today in 2023.

BMS College of Engineering PLACEMENTS & PACKAGES :

The BMS College of Engineering had been ranked at Number 1 on an All India basis concerning placements. Its placement statistics graph can be seen growing continuously over the years. In the latest placement season, the college has achieved over 88% of placement offers.

While the highest package offered to students was 48 Lakhs Per Annum and the average package was 5 LPA while the lowest package was 4.5 LPA.

Students were given opportunities in top-notch companies such as L&T, Dassault Systems, Bosch, Mercedes, Schneider Electric, Samsung, and Amazon.

Out of a total of 1,326 students registered for the placements from all the departments in 2019, 1,175 students got placement offers. The college has a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed with TCS, HUAWEI, ROBERT BOSCH, MERCEDES BENZ, AMD, etc.

  • About 50% of students in the BE EEE branch got internship offers from The highest package offered in the EEE branch ranged between 12-15 LPA while the lowest package offered varied from 4 – 5LPA. The top roles offered in the BE EEE branch were Product Manager, Design Engineer, and Control Manager.

BMS College of  Engineering ADMISSIONS 2024-25:

B.M.S. College of Engineering (BMSCE) provides admissions in various branches of both UG as well as PG courses. It offers around 14 undergraduate and 16 postgraduate programs. There are 14 departments recognized as Research Centres offering Ph.D. and MSc (Engineering by Research) degrees. The flagship programs of the college however are BE and MBA programs.

The admission to most of the programs is based on the scores in entrance exams or through management quota. A candidate belonging to SC/ ST/ Category-I/ differently-abled or any other reserved category shall have a relaxation of 5% in the minimum prescribed qualification for the general category. The mode of the application process of the college is offline.

 The application process for UG programs starts in February whereas the admission process for MBA and MCA programs begins in January every year.

Admission to the BMS College of Engineering is based on the various national and state-level Engineering exams. Detailed information about each specific course is given below:

BMS College of Engineering Admission 2024 for UG Courses:

BMSCE offers BE and BArch programs at the undergraduate (UG) level. Candidates are selected based on the score obtained in respective entrance examinations.

Admission for BE course :

  • Admission to BE programs is done through KCET/ COMED-K scores. Admissions can also be done through lateral entry.
  • Candidates can get direct admission to BTech and BArch programs through management quota.

Eligibility for BE course :

  • Candidate must have passed Class 12 or equivalent examination with English as one language and obtained a minimum of 45% in aggregate (40% aggregate in case of reserved category) in Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with Chemistry/ Biotechnology/ Biology/ Computer Science/ Electronics as optional subjects in the qualifying examination. Admission to the program is based on KCET/ COMED-K scores.
  • Candidates must have passed Class 12 with a minimum of 60% aggregate in Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry/ Computer Science/ Electronics to get admission to the BE program through management quota.
  • For admission to BE in the lateral entry, the candidate must hold a diploma or must have passed an equivalent examination and obtained an aggregate of a minimum of 45% (40% aggregate in case of reserved category) in the final year of diploma examination.

  • Candidates are selected in the BArch program based on NATA/ JEE Mains Paper 2.

Eligibility for BArch course :

  • Candidates must have passed Class 12 with a minimum of 50% aggregate in Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics and also a minimum of 50% aggregate in Class 12 or 2nd PUC with Mathematics as a compulsory subject with a minimum 50% in aggregate

The college offers a BArch program for 5 years. The seat intake capacity for BArch is 120.

BMS College of Engineering Admission 2024 for PG Courses:

BMSCE offers programs such as MTech, M.Arc, MBA, and MCA under various specializations at the PG level. All the programs offered at the postgraduate level are two-year full-time programs. Candidates can also get admission to the postgraduate programs through management quota.

  • BMSCE offers MBA, MTech, and MCA programs at the postgraduate level.
  • Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree in relevant subjects to get eligible for the PG programs.
  • Admission to MTech/M. Arch programs are done based on the GATE score or PGCET of Karnataka.
  • Candidates must have a valid score in KMAT/ CMAT/ MAT/ PGCET to get admission to the MBA program.

  • Candidate must have passed bachelor’s degree with 50% aggregate (45% in case of reserved category) in all the subjects including language in all the years of the program
  • Qualifying Exam: KMAT/ CMAT/ MAT/ PGCET

Eligibility criteria for MCA:

  • Candidate must have passed a bachelor’s or equivalent examination with Mathematics/ Statistics/ Computer Science/ Computer Application/ Computer Programming/ Business Mathematics/ Business Statistics as one of the optional subjects and obtained an aggregate of 50% (45% in case of reserved category) in all the subjects in all the years of the degree examination.
  • Qualifying Exam: KMAT/ PGCET
  • Seats: 60
  • For lateral entry: Candidates must hold a BCA, BSc (IT/ Computer Science) with Mathematics at Class 12 or the graduate level, and have obtained 50% aggregate (45% in case of reserved category) in all the years of the degree examination.

Eligibility criteria for MArch ( Habitat design) :

  • Candidates must have passed BArch with a minimum of 50% aggregate
  • Qualifying Exam: PGCET/ GATE
  • Seats: 20

Admission for Ph.D. and MSc (Engg) Courses:

  • Admission to Ph.D. and MSc (Engg) programs is based on the University-conducted entrance exam (VTU-ETR).
  • Candidates qualified in the UGC-NET (including JRF)/ UGC-CSIR NET (including JRF)/ SLET/ GATE/ CAT or other similar national tests are exempted from the entrance exam.

Eligibility for Ph.D. programs:

  • The college offers full-time as well as part-time Ph.D. programs to the candidates.
  • Candidates must hold a master’s degree in the relevant discipline with a minimum CGPA of 6.75 out of 10 or 60% aggregate either in the bachelor’s or master’s degree.
  • Candidates are required to qualify an entrance exam conducted by the University or any other national-level examination such as UGC-NET (including JRF)/UGC-CSIR NET (including JRF)/ SLET/ GATE/ CAT.
  • Candidates pursuing the MTech program at the university and have completed the first three semesters’ syllabus successfully with a minimum of 70% aggregate or 7.75 out of 10 is eligible to update the program to Ph.D. Integrated Degree on the approval by the Admission Committee.

BMS College of Engineering cut off 2024 :

Every year BMSCE Bangalore admissions are conducted for the students based on cut off declared by BMSCE, Bangalore. Although the cut off for the year 2024 has not yet been declared, candidates can go through the previous year cut-offs for a better comparison.

  • The cut-off for each course is released individually based on the respective exams needed for getting admission in BMSCE.
  • Cut-off of each category is independent of the other and candidates of the respective categories are given admissions only based on the category they belong to.
