Established in 1984 by the late Dr. S. Jagathrakshakan under the aegis of the Bharath Institute of Science and Technology, it was granted deemed university status by the UGC in 2003. BIHER is approved by AICTE and accredited with an "A" grade by NAAC, and it offers UG, PG, and doctoral programs in engineering, management, arts, science, law, pharmacy, and medical sciences.
