The Design Aptitude Test (DAT) has already started the exam process by the National Institute of Design (NID) for the admission of candidates in B.Des and M.Des for the 2024 prelims exam. Now the authorities have declared the official dates for the examination.

The exam is a national-level exam conducted every year for the admission of candidates, the exam has two stages: Prelims and Mains.


The NID DAT Exam is conducted in Offline mode or Pen and Paper Test. The prelims exam is all set to be conducted on 24th December.

The duration of NID DAT 2024 is 3 hours. While carrying the admit card candidates need to also carry one official Identity proof such as an Aadhar card, PAN card, Driving license, or Voter card. The Admit card is a compulsory document and the requirement of the document is mandatory for appearing in the exam.

Important Dates


 

  • Tentatively the registration of candidates has started from 8th September 2023.


 

  • The last date for the registration of candidates is 7th December 2023.


 

  • The correction facility of the applicants has started from 10th December 2023.


 

  • The issue of Admit cards in online mode will begin from 12th December 2023. 


 

  • The prelims exam will commence on 24th December 2023.


 

  • The results for the prelims exam will be released on 28th March 2024 for B.Des candidates and 16th February 2024 for M.Des candidates.


 

  • The admit card for Mains will be released on 14th April 2024 for B.Des candidates and on 22nd February 2024 for M.Des candidates.


 

  • The commencement of Mains exam will start from 27th April 2024 for B.Des candidates and from 3rd March 2024 for M.Des candidates


 

  • The results for the Mains examination will be announced on 21st May 2024 for B.Des candidates and M.Des candidates The date will be 30th April 2024.

Application  fees

The  application fees for the candidates are complete based on courses and programs

  • For the B.Des course, the fees will be Rs.3000 for General category candidates and Rs.1500 for SC, ST, and PwD Candidates.


 

  • For M.Des course 1 the fees will be Rs.3000 for General category candidates and Rs.1500 for SC, ST, and PwD Candidates.


 

  • For M.Des course 2 the fees will be Rs.6000 for General category candidates and Rs.3000 for SC, ST, and PwD Candidates.

How to apply

The application process for NID DAT is completely online based.

  • Applicants need to apply through the official website
  • After applying applicants need to register themselves with their Mobile number and email ID.
  • After successful registration, a login account of the candidate will be created.
  • Now, candidates need to log in and upload all the required documents such as passport size photo and signature, and academic details.
  • After successful uploading of all the documents, candidates need to pay the application fee.
  • After successful registration applicants need to take a printout of the application form.

How to Download Admit Card


 

  • To download the admit card candidates need to visit the official website.


 

  • After visiting the official website applicants need to enter their valid enrollment number and password.


 

  • After the login candidates portal will open, now click the hall ticket download link.


 

  • Click the link, download the admit card, and take a printout of it.

Eligibility 


 

  • Candidates who are going to appear for DAT need to be qualified for a government-approved Undergraduate course in any technical program or from any other nontechnical program such as Commerce, Science, or Arts.


 

  • Applicants must be citizens of India or a foreign country.


 

  • Candidates who are in their final year or have done bachelor"s degree are also eligible.


 

  • Candidates must be born in or after 2002 and 2003.

Exam pattern

The Difficulty level of the exam is moderate to high. The question paper contains Objective and Subjective type questions. A total number of 25 questions will be given and the applicants will get 3 hours to complete the paper. 10 questions will be asked from General Aptitude (GA) and Visuals and Texts.

> For attempting every correct answer applicants will get 1 mark and 2 marks for each question.

> For attempting every wrong answer in MCQ only for 1 mark each question ⅓ marks will be deducted and for 2 marks for each question, ⅔ marks will be deducted.

> For unattempted questions, no marks will be deducted.

Syllabus 

The syllabus contains multiple formats such as Drawing, Sketching, Modelling, Texts, and Visuals.
