The National Institute Of Technology (NIT) Srinagar is a Technical institute that provides undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctorate degrees in Engineering, Applied Sciences, Social Sciences, and Humanities. The admission of candidates is based on the scores of the JEE entrance exam.

NIT Srinagar was established in 1960 and is situated on the western bank of Dal Lake. It was directed by the government of India and one of 31 NITs and directed by the Ministry of Education. The National Institute of Technology (NIT), Srinagar, stands out as the best in providing industry-standard engineering and technological courses to shape the future aspiring engineers.

National Institute of Technology is spread over a huge sprawling land of 60 acres of green environment, and the campus has highly designed infrastructure with 5-story modern buildings with well-equipped smart classrooms, modern laboratories, an audio-visual seminal hall, computer halls, a modern library with a vast number of national and international journals, 24-hour drinking water supply.

NIT University has more than 150 faculties that teach students and guide them in every step. The faculties of NIT are highly qualified and have experience of more than 10 years in their respective field and include 2% of scientists in India.

The institute has built a tie-up with a wide range of corporations that enables the student to get hands-on experience through internships, workshops, collaborative projects, etc., as well as guidance and mentoring from an industry professional through theoretical and practical works.

  • This year, the NIT got a ranking of 82 from the NIRF for Engineering 
  • According to NIRF, the overall ranking of NIT is 101 out of 150 universities in India in 2023 and 101 out of 150 universities in 2022
  • According to the World University Ranking, the overall ranking of NIT is 1201 out of 1500
  • According to the Times Of India, NIT ranked 30th in 2020.
  • NIT Srinagar is also ranked 59th by IIRF out of 192 colleges in India.
  • This Institute is also recognized by the University Grant Commission (UGC) and the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).

  • Candidates interested in NIT Srinagar must appear for the Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) as the admission will be based on the JEE score.
  • After shortlisting candidates, applicants must appear for a personal interview or Counselling round.
