IIST offers the following specialized academic programs in space science and technology: B.Tech in Aerospace Engineering, Avionics, and a Dual Degree (B.Tech in Engineering Physics + M.Tech/MS in specialization areas). At the postgraduate level, it offers M.Tech/MS programs in the following streams: Thermal & Propulsion, Aerodynamics & Flight Mechanics, Structures & Design, RF & Microwave Engineering, Astronomy & Astrophysics, Earth System Science, and Machine Learning & Computing. The Ph.D. programs are designed to be focused on the cutting-edge research in Aerospace Engineering, Avionics, and Earth & Space Sciences. The students are equipped with theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience, which will prepare them for careers in ISRO, global space agencies, and the aerospace industry.
