Originally known as Madras Law College, it was renamed in honor of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar — the principal architect of the Indian Constitution — in 1990. The college functions under the Department of Legal Studies, Government of Tamil Nadu, and is affiliated with The Tamil Nadu Dr. Ambedkar Law University (TNDALU).  Admission Procedure

Mode of Admission:

  • B.A. LL.B / LL.B: Admission based on merit in qualifying examination (10+2 / UG) through TNDALU centralized counseling.
     
  • LL.M: Admission through TNDALU PG Entrance Exam followed by counseling.
     
  • Ph.D.: Admission through TNDALU Research Entrance Test (RET) and interview as per UGC norms.
     

Eligibility:

  • B.A. LL.B (5 Years): 10+2 with minimum 45% (40% for SC/ST).
     
  • LL.B (3 Years): Graduation in any discipline with minimum 45%.
     
  • LL.M: LL.B or equivalent degree with 50% marks.
