ITM was founded in 1997 by the Samata Lok Sansthan Trust in Gwalior. It is associated with the Rajiv Gandhi Proudyogiki Vishwavidyalaya (M.P. University of Technology), Bhopal, and has been certified by the AICTE, the Indian government, and the government of M.P. The Institute was founded with the goal of providing top-notch engineering and technology education in order to become a globally recognised institution by supporting research and teaching and producing elite engineers and technologists.
