The University of Mumbai (MU), founded on July 18, 1857, is a public state university in Mumbai, Maharashtra. It is the oldest and largest university system in India. As of 2011, the university had more than 549,000 students enrolled in its campuses and affiliated colleges, and as of 2013, 711 affiliated colleges. The university is accredited by the University Grants Commission (UGC). In August 2021, MU was accredited with A++ Grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) for a period of seven years, which is the highest grade awarded by NAAC.
