With a sense of nationalism and a desire to serve, teach, and innovate, the Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research—formerly known as V.S.S. Medical College and Hospital—began its ascent to renown by being located next to the Hirakud Dam. The current prominence is the result of the combined efforts of innumerable men and women who gave it their all in both favorable and unfavorable circumstances.

Hostel Rules	Room Allotment: Allotment based on academic merit; requires undertakings and parent/guardian countersignatures. Management: Warden and sub-warden oversee hostel order, cleanliness, and discipline. Discipline: No unauthorized absences; apply for leave with proper permissions. Messing: Managed by students under sub-warden supervision; no unwholesome food allowed.
