The Manipal Technology Institute (MIT) was established in 1957 as one of India’s first self-financing Engineering colleges. It became a constituent college of the deemed Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) university in 2000. The Institute presently offers various specializations in BTech, MTech, and MCA. It also allows the opportunity for students to perform full-time or part-time studies. MIT undertakes funded research projects that are supported by government organizations such as DST, CSIR, AICTE, and the Environmental Science Ministry. In collaboration with leading academic laboratories and institutes in India as well as abroad, it has joint research programs.

MIT has an Innovation Center, which encourages entrepreneurial talent among the region’s scholars, staff, and residents. Of startups and emerging developers, it encourages interdisciplinary research and incubation. Also, it has a Manipal Universal Technology Business Incubator (MUTBI), one of the 54 Technology Business Incubators sponsored by the National Science and Technology Entrepreneurship Growth Board and Science and Technology Department, Government of India. It was established in 2010 and its focus areas include Healthcare Information Technology, Agriculture, Green Energy, and Energy Management Systems, and MEMS / Nanotech.

MIT Eligibility Criteria

The Institute offers approximately 45 UG and PG level courses across the Engineering and IT streams. The length of the BTech course is four years, and two years is that of the PG courses. MAHE conducts MET to accept entry into its BTech and MTech programs. GATE eligible applicants are granted additional weightage during the MTech admission process. However, for MCA, entry is approved in the qualifying exam based on a candidate’s merit.
