Campus –

NITTE (Deemed to be University) actively participates in the mission of water conservation. It has incorporated eco-friendly practises for water conservation and water use efficiency. The beautiful, verdant environment is maintained all year long using recycled water. All three of the university’s campuses use rainwater collection. Rainwater collection is done by using open wells and water features. Borewells are not the primary water supply; open wells are. Its strategies and policies are centred on safeguarding, preserving, and making sustainable use of its priceless freshwater resources.

Rainwater harvesting –

Since NitteDU is situated in an area that experiences significant rainfall during the monsoon season, it works to properly manage and reuse rainwater. There are separate storm water drains installed from the main drainage system.

Separate pipelines are used to collect rainwater from roofs. These raw water storage tanks collect the water, which is then treated in a WTP with pressure sand and activated carbon filters. Sodium hypochlorite, diluted to 10%, is administered as needed using automatic dosage pumps after the chlorine demand of the water is determined. All home uses of the water are carried out.
