HITS
Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science (HITS), established in 1985 was given the status of a University in 2008 by the UGC, Government of India. It is a deemed-to-be University recognized by the AICTE, the AIMA, and other regulating bodies. Accredited by NBA and NAAC Grade ‘A’, the institute offers courses in five disciplines, namely Aeronautical Engineering, Automobile Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering.
The Institute has been recently awarded the ‘QS E-Learning Excellence for Academic Digitisation’ (LEAD)’ Certification in 2020.
In the present day, the Institute offers more than 100 courses at UG and PG levels in various streams. It also offers industry-collaborated programs in partnership with IBM, Volkswagen and HTC-ITMR. These courses are imparted through 13 on-campus schools and centers of studies under various departments. The campus is spread over a land of 150 acres, out of which 15 acres are dedicated to sports and recreational activities. It houses 14 Research Centres with well-equipped laboratories and facilities.
Students have access to libraries with over 2,10,000 volumes of books, 400 international/ national periodicals in print format, 3,500 CDs/DVDs, 42,000 e-journals, 35,000 e-books with online databases.
Hindustan Technology Business Incubator (HTBI) and Hindustan Entrepreneurship & Innovation Centre (HEIC) were inaugurated in 2015 in association with NEN. The Institute also has TIFAC-CORE that aims at training the students in Aircraft Maintenance to meet the needs of the ever-growing Aviation sector.

HITS Admission :
Admission to the Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science (HITS) can be done by filling the application form available both online as well as offline mode. Aspiring candidates can visit the official website of the Institute fill and submit the application form along with required documents to get admission in the institute. Admission to some courses is merit-based, while for others, it is entrance-based.
BTech Admission :
Qualifying exam: HITSEEE
Eligibility :
- Candidates must have passed Class 12 with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with one more.
- Minimum 50% aggregate (45% for reserved category) in overall subjects with a minimum of 60% in Mathematics.

BTech Lateral Entry :
- Diploma in appropriate branch of Engineering/ Technology with minimum 50% aggregate recognized by the State Board of Technical Education and Training, Tamil Nadu

Qualifying exams: NATA and HITSEEE
Eligibility :
- Minimum 60% aggregate in Class 12 or its equivalent examination with Mathematics/ Business studies as one of the subjects.

- Minimum 50% aggregate in a three-year diploma with Mathematics/ Business studies as one of the subjects.

Candidates are selected for this 2-year program based on their performance in the last qualifying examination.

BSc / Bachelor’s degree in relevant stream.
Ph.D. Course
HITS conducts a written test and a PI round to accept admission to the Ph.D. program

HITS Placements :
Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science runs a dedicated and focused placement cell that gives over 75% successful placement outputs every year.
The Institute has ties with leading universities in the USA, Singapore, Australia, and many other countries to promote student and faculty exchange programs. It also imparts its students the benefit of collaborating with over 200 MoUs for academics and sports.
It organizes workshops, seminars, skill development sessions, mock interviews, group discussions, aptitude tests, etc., to prepare the students for the placements process.
In 2018-19, HITS attained nearly 79% placements with over 75 companies making more than 450 offers. Some of the top recruiters include IDBI Federal, Qspiders, Sutherland Global, TCS, Infosys, IBM, etc.
HITS Scholarships :
The Institute offers multiple scholarships to the meritorious and financially needful students.
In 2020, HITS introduced two additional scholarships for the wards of COVID warriors.
COVID Warrior Ward Scholarship:
Wards of COVID warriors, who have lost their lives protecting Corona-affected people, are given complete tuition fee waiver including the boarding and lodging charges in the stream of their choice, provided they meet the eligibility norms. The students can also get a monthly stipend from the institute.
COVID Frontline Warriors Scholarship: Granted to the wards of doctors, healthcare professionals, government, and service personnel who have been affected by the pandemic or lost their lives. It will be offered for a two-year period with 100 scholarships across all courses.
SC/ST Scholarship Government of India:
The annual parental income does not exceed Rs 1 lakh. Those availing this scholarship should not receive scholarship/assistance from any other sources. The scholarship is renewable every year within the stages of education.
Only applicable to the Indian citizens of Tamil Nadu.
Dr. KCG Verghese Memorial Foundation Scholarships/Aid:
Financial aid is provided to meritorious and deserving students towards their education and medical relief is given to the poor under this scheme. Introduced in the memory of the founder & chairman of the Institute- Dr. KCG Verghese.
Chancellor’s Scholarship:
For the Hindustan Group of Institutions alumni’s children or immediate family members.
Merit-Cum-Means Scholarship:
For the top scorers in Class 12 from any school, awarded financial aid to pursue their higher studies in HITS. Only for meritorious students belonging to the weaker section.
Sports Scholarship:
For students who have excelled in sports under the Sports Quota.
Research Fellowships:
For the full-time research scholars registered for Ph.D., MPhil, and MS by Research. Also, students, who have achievements at the national, inter-university, or state levels.
HITS Cut-off 2020 :
Candidates are given admissions to various UG & PG courses offered at the Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science (HITS) based on the cut-offs of the respective entrance tests required for qualification.
Cut-offs are released professionally by the college authority category-wise.
The reservation criteria issued by the Government of India and the state are also kept in mind.
The candidates that meet the criteria are only preferred for admissions.
Admissions are carried out based on merit for most programs, except for courses, including colleges:
- For admission to BTech, BArch, and BDes programs, candidates are required to qualify the HITSEEE cut-off.
- BArch aspirants can also rely on qualifying cut off of NATA.
- Admission to MTech, LLM, and Ph.D. is based on the cut off of the entrance exam conducted by HITS.
For the rest of the UG and PG programs, admission is based on a candidate’s merit in the qualifying examination.
