Being a CAT aspirant, you should be conscious of what to do and what to avoid. Below is the list to refer:
Don’ts during CAT Preparation
Avoid studying from all kinds of Study Material- A plethora of study material is available online as well as offline. This raises the panic mode of the student. It’s always best to stick to a particular study material. Referring to one is always preferable. After completion, if there is a need can switch on to different study material.
Avoid collecting only Information- It’s been a tendency to search on the net for anything we want. Candidates too search for various tips and strategies to crack CAT. Collecting only and doing nothing is not beneficial. The more preferable strategy is to spend some time on searching all the strategies and shortcuts on the internet and after some time stop searching and start applying it. Try and apply in the mocks and understand whether they should be considered or not.
Don’t switch on panic mode- Days for CAT exam will start cutting down to few. But then also don’t switch on panic mode. Work according to your plan and stick to it without any fear.
Don’t get influenced by the negative environment- Environment has an impact on each of us. So, avoid being with negative people. They may demotivate you. So, surround yourself with people who are willing to fight and have a positive attitude. Be with whom always motivates you to do more and give your 100%.
Avoid Wasting Time- Every single second is precious when you are getting ready for the CAT exam. Have a break in between your study plan, but make sure to roll back to your study routine.

Do Analyze your Mock Tests- Analyzing your mock test is very essential. It gives your strengths and weaknesses. Once you know your weakness, start working on it. And highlight your strengths during the exam period.
Work on Strategies and Shortcuts- Trying on new strategies and techniques for solving examples is preferable only during the mock exam. After trying to choose the best one to use in the final CAT exam. Trying out a new strategy on the day of the exam is a strict no.
Number of Mocks- The mock test should be given 1-2 / weeks. So for the next remaining months along with the section-wise preparation give mock tests. Candidates should give a mock or two to understand where they stand and what are their weak or strong areas in the CAT Exam. And then work on weak areas. This will help the candidate understand their level of preparation at the present moment and understand the sections that the candidate should concentrate more on. Increase the number of mock tests to 3-4 per week, once the exam is near. This will help you make perfect in giving the final CAT exam.
Stick to your Study Plan- Once you have a study plan in hand, start with enthusiasm, and continue till your final exam. Don’t procrastinate. Study according to your study plan, if you miss any day, don’t get panic. Continue again with new enthusiasm.
