About Banaras Hindu University
In the esteemed city of Varanasi, there is a temple of learning known as Banaras Hindu University. With the help of notable individuals like Dr. Annie Besant, who saw it as the University of India, the great nationalist leader Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya built this creative and inventive university in 1916. The B.H.U. Act 1915, a piece of parliamentary legislation, established Banaras Hindu University. It contributed significantly to the fight for independence and has grown to become India’s premier educational hub.
It has produced numerous outstanding independence warriors and architects of modern India, and it has made significant contributions to the development of the country by welcoming numerous esteemed intellectuals, creatives, scientists, and technicians. The main campus of this prestigious Central University is 1300 acres large, with well-kept roads, a lot of vegetation, a temple, an airstrip, and beautiful buildings. During the Second World War, the campus’s Air Field was established for the purpose of training pilots for the military.
There will soon be a second campus of the university at Barkachha in the Mirzapur district, with a 2700-acre footprint. The university offers a wide range of courses in the humanities, social sciences, technology, medicine, science, fine arts, and performing arts through its six institutes, fourteen faculties, 144 departments, four inter-disciplineal centres, one constituent college for women, and three constituent schools. Large playgrounds, a large auditorium, a flying club, and numerous auxiliary services and units, such as a printing press, a publication cell, a fruit preservation centre, subsidised canteens, an employment and information bureau, security, etc. are all provided by the university as part of its extensive array of sporting and recreational amenities.
Nearly 8000 non-teaching staff members, 1700 teachers, and 15,000 students from all walks of life, religions, and races make up the University family. Many students from other nations, including the United States, countries in Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and Africa, come to study.
Banaras Hindu University Ranking –
In the NIRF 2022 Rankings, which were issued on July 15, BHU is ranked 6 and 11 in the categories “University” and “Overall,” respectively. It also has an NIRF 2022 ranking of 15 in the “Research” category. In order to give students and staff members more exposure, Banaras Hindu University has inked MoUs with more than 40 domestic and international universities.
As a result of BHU’s partnerships with other universities, many international students from the USA, Europe, Asia, the Middle East, Africa, etc. come to study here. With the aim of promoting equitable chances, the university also supports students who are socially and financially disadvantaged by offering them a number of scholarships.
Banaras Hindu University Placement –
According to a recent media report, the firm named Fast Retailing Co Ltd. – Uniqlo, the top retail group in Japan, awarded a final-year MBA student the highest package, which is equal to more than INR 35 LPA. The average compensation package at the BHU MBA placements in 2022 was INR 9.7 LPA. Earlier, 431 students out of 3,456 students were placed during Banaras Hindu University UG (3-year) placements in 2021, according to the BHU NIRF report 2022. Additionally, during BHU UG (3-year) placements in 2021, INR 7 LPA was the median package offered.
Out of the 4,012 students who applied for BHU PG (2-year) placements in 2021, 320 were ultimately placed. Additionally, the average compensation package during the PG (2-year) placements at Banaras Hindu University in 2021 was INR 6 LPA.
Banaras Hindu University Admission –
The CUET UG 2023 test dates have been made public by NTA. The exam will be given from May 21 to May 31. Dates for the CUET PG 2023 exams have been released by NTA. The test will be given between June 1 and June 10, 2023. Midway through March 2023, registration for CUET-PG 2023 opens.
Central University Entrance Test (CUET), administered by the National Testing Agency, is the basis for undergraduate admission to Banaras Hindu University (NTA). In addition, BHU accepts the results of the CUET PG entrance exam for admission to a variety of postgraduate programmes, including the MA, MSc, MCA, M. Lib. I. Sc., M.P.Ed., MFA, and LLM, among others. CAT for MBA and MBA in International Business admission is also accepted by the university.
Banaras Hindu University Facilities –
Library:- The university library has a collection of 9,76,411 books, 1,33,792 journals, and 406 current journals. The library is completely air-conditioned. Additionally, there are 10 databases, 52,560 electronic books, and 11,272 online journals in the library’s collection.
Hostel :- At BHU, there are different housing options for boys and girls. The number of hostels is 41 for boys and 21 for girls. A different hostel facility is available to international students. Every hostel offers standard amenities like water purifiers, common spaces, recreation rooms, mess halls, TVs, laundry facilities, security and surveillance systems, etc.
Laboratories :- BHU provides students with a multitude of resources. They also have a computer lab that is very effective and well-equipped. At BHU, there are other top-notch laboratories. It pertains to physics, chemistry, and zoology. A biotechnology lab is also present. Additionally, you have a second CAD-CAM lab.
Medical facility :- On the campus of BHU, there is a separate student health complex. It offers pupils the best medical care available. You can also take advantage of OP Consultation, which is available from 7.30 am to 2 pm. Additionally, you are able to benefit from pharmacy services.
