IIT Bombay was the first institution of its sort to be established with outside funding; it was founded in 1958. The money for UNESCO came from the former Soviet Union in the form of rubles. The IITs were designated “Institutes of National Importance” by Parliament in 1961. Since that time, IITB has developed steadily to become one of the best technological colleges worldwide.<\/span><\/p>\n
