SASTRA Deemed-to-be University or Shanmugha Arts, Science, Technology, and Research Academy or was established in 1984 as Shanmugha College of Engineering. The institution was granted the status of a deemed university in 2001 under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act of 1956. Accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with GRADE A+, SASTRA has also been appraised by global agencies like Times Higher Education and QS.

SASTRA University is located in the Thirumalaisamudram village of Tamil Nadu. It has 8 schools, 2 centers, and a directorate of distance education offering UG, PG, and Research programs in science, engineering, medicine, education, arts, law, and management. Shanmugha Arts, Science, Technology and Research Academy (SASTRA), established in 1984 is located in Tamil Nadu. Engineering and Business & Management are two flagship streams of SASTRA under which more than 100 courses are offered in the UG, PG, and Doctoral levels. It also offers all its programs through distance learning mode.

SASTRA Deemed-to-be University Admission Highlights :

  • During BTech admissions, 70% of the total seats are given to candidates qualified through JEE Main rank and 30% of seats are given based on class 12 There are options for BTech Integrated and Lateral admission too.
  • MTech seats are offered by the institute, based on a valid GATE
  • For admissions to the law courses, the students are selected based on CLAT
  • For MBA programmes, CAT/ MAT/ CMAT/ ATMA scores are considered.
  • For PhD programs, admissions are done based on a written test conducted by the SASTRA management, followed by a personal interview.
  • For remaining courses including BCom, BA –BEd, BSc BEd, BBA-LLB, BCA, MSc, and MCA, admission is done based on marks secured in the qualifying examination.

Eligibility criteria for various courses :

  • In the case of Law programs, the candidates must have cleared CLAT, while GATE-qualified candidates are eligible for MTech at SASTRA University.
  • For an MBA, the applicants must have a valid score in CAT, XAT, AIMAT, CMAT, or AIMCAT.
  • The applicants of BOptom programs must have a valid NEET score along with a normalized aggregate in grade 12.
  • Recipients with over 60% aggregate in BOptom or any equivalent optometry program are eligible for applying for MOptom at SASTRA University. Further, MOptom admissions are awarded based on the scores of the recipients in the entrance test and the interviews conducted by the institution.

Admission to UG courses

 For the BTech course :

Eligibility :

Candidates must have passed 10+2 with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects and Chemistry/ Biology/ Biotechnology/ Computer Science as an optional subject with a minimum of 60% aggregate.

However, the candidates are shortlisted as per their JEE Main scores.

For BTech Lateral Entry :

 Eligibility :

Diploma in Engineering/ Technology in BSc or another relevant discipline. The selection is based on merit followed by an institute-level counseling procedure.
