National Institute of Engineering
The National Institute of Engineering (NIE) is an autonomous engineering college located in the state of Karnataka. Established in 1946, granted autonomy in 2007 under Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU).D.A. Prasanna was designated as the founder of chancellor.
In 2011, under TEQIP-II, NIE received further aid from the World Bank. These funds were used to augment the postgraduate programs. In March 2019, NIE was declared as a private university by the government of Karnataka. The Institute currently offers 21 courses across two of its flagship streams – Engineering and IT.

National Institute of Engineering Admission process 2024 :
NIE Mysore admission is mainly done in more than 20 courses of Engineering and IT via the online medium. Admissions are done through various entrance exams like COMED – K, GATE, and Karnataka PGCET depending on whether the course is of UG or PG level.
Candidates can also seek admission through the management quota for some of the courses and the forms are available offline for them.
The institution has also extended its platform for the carrying out of research projects of Central and State Governments, VTU, ISRO, and McMaster University amounting to approximately Rs 700 lakh.
BE Eligibility :
- Candidates have to have a valid score in KCET/ COMEDK.
- Minimum 45% aggregate in Class 12 or equal to compulsory subjects in Physics, Maths, and English, along with one of the following subjects: Chemistry, Biotechnology, Computer Science, Genetics, Electronics.

Steps to fill the application process :
- Visit the official website of the institute.
- Register the candidate’s name in order to generate a password.
- Fill the required details carefully and attach the documents asked.
- Submit the application form, once done.
- Payment can be done online through any preferred mode of payment.

National Institute of Engineering Placements :
The National Institute of Engineering has a quite active and responsible placement cell. The college is one of the Prestigious Colleges in Karnataka with more than 90% Placements rates. - How does the placement packages range in NIE?
Placements are quite good as the students are prepared by an excellent faculty. For the 2020 batch, the highest salary package offered is 30 LPA by Cisco, and the salary package offered by Intuit is 25 LPA. The lowest salary package offered is about 3.5 LPA.
